…Says Flight Dispatchers Are As Important As Pilots
The Management of the International Aviation College(IAC),Ilorin has organised orientation programme for the newly admitted students for Flight Dispatcher Course sponsored by the Kwara Local Governments in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Business Development Officer of the College, Adetutu Kehinde Ajayi welcomed the dignitaries, who graced the ceremony to the College, being the only state-owned Aviation College in Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the Ag. Rector of the College, Capt. Yakubu Okatahi expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, for his support to the College.
He equally thanked the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi,for facilitating Local Government sponsorship for Flight Dispatchers’ Course at the College.
The Rector assured the gathering that the College Management would not disappoint the confidence the state and Local Governments have in them.
He, however, made it known at the programme that Flight Dispatchers are important and relevant as pilots in the aviation industry.
The Ag. Rector congratulated the students and advised them to study well with a view to coming out with a flying colors.
In his own speech, the Chairman of ALGON, Kwara State Chapter, Hon. Olajide Shonibare thanked the State Governor and His Deputy for encouraging the LG TIC Chairmen in the state to sponsor at least two indigenes from each LG for Flight Dispatchers’ Course at IAC, Ilorin.
Shonibare expressed optimism about the future of the sponsored indigenes in the area of job opportunities.
He, however, assured the College Management of ALGON continued support and cooperation with the IAC in the area of students’ sponsorship for aviation related courses at the institution.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde applauded the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for his interest in youth development and empowerment.
She admonished the lucky students from the 16 LGs in the state to grab the opportunity they have now and make judicious use of same in the overall interest of their respective LGs in particular and Kwara State at large.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College, Alhaji Ahmed Gobir appreciated the State Governor and His Deputy for extending state government support to state chapter of ALGON to sponsor their indigenes for Flight Dispatchers’ Course at the College.
He enjoined the students to be of good ambassadors of their respective LGs, promising automatic employment for the best student.
The Chief Ground Instructor (CGI) of the College, Mr. Mohammed O.S.B. charged the new students to be ready for a rigorous academic exercise which according to him would last 6 months.
In his vote of thanks, the Registrar of the College, Mr. Mohammed Jimada thanked the dignitaries present at the event for honouring the College’s invitation.
He assured ALGON Chairman and other TIC Chairmen present that the IAC would not disappoint the confidence and trust the state LGs has in the College.
