  • NAMA new CEO,Engr. Ahmed Farouk

The new Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Ahmed Farouk has assumed leadership at the agency.  

With an illustrious three-decade career marked by significant contributions to Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, Farouk takes charge, emphasising a renewed commitment to safety and industry standards.

A statement General Manager, Public Affairs, Amaka Walker, said that Farouk’s journey which commenced with his entry into NAMA in 2002 from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity has been characterised by engineering prowess and strategic deployment of critical systems such as Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Doppler Very High-Frequency (VHF) Omnidirectional Radio Range.

His planned retirement on January 18 marked the conclusion of an era dedicated to advancing the nation’s aviation capabilities.

In assuming the role of Managing Director, Farouk prioritises communication and airspace stability.

Additionally, he declared a state of emergency on power within the agency, signaling a proactive stance aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

“NAMA is no longer on trial; we are on course, and our commitment to excellence is resolute,” he stated.

Speaking on the importance of flight safety, Farouk pledged zero tolerance for air accidents, emphasising strict adherence to global safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), prioritising the safety and well-being of the flying public.

He underlined his dedication to maintaining industry-leading safety measures and urged collective responsibility.

His leadership envisioned a future for NAMA marked by excellence and safety, invoking blessings for guidance in this new phase.

Farouk expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Engr. Tayib Odunowo, for effectively tackling numerous challenges in the airspace, adding that he is committed to continuing the commendable work and prioritising the welfare of both active and retired staff at the agency.
