…As NSIB Commences Investigation 

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the Permit for Non- Commercial Flight Operations  (PNCF) issued to Mattini Airline Services Limited  operators of the incident Challenger CL 601 airplane with immediate effect over runway excursion at Ibadan Airport today.

The aircraft with registration marks N580KR overshot the runway at Ibadan Airport today; January 26, 2024.

The confirmation of the incident and suspension of the PNCF of the operator is contained in a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA, Mr. Michael Achimugu and made available to Aviation Journalists in Lagos.

Achimugu in the statement informed that the operator of the incident airplane; Mattini Airline Services Limited holds a valid Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF).

However, the Director stated that in accordance with Sec 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022, the NCAA has suspended the PNCF of Mattini Airline Services Limited with immediate effect.

He explained that the suspension will subsist until determination is made that the conditions of the PNCF have been adhered to, adding that the regulatory body has further initiated a safety and economic audit of all private jet operations in Nigeria.

He said that in line with statutory provisions, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into the occurrence.

He added that while the NSIB is conducting the safety investigation, the NCAA has initiated an economic inquiry into the operation of the aircraft viz-a-viz the terms and conditions of the PNCF as detailed in its Annexure.

NCAA, assured the travelling public of its utmost commitment to safety and the entrenchment of global best practices.
