The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) have signed an agreement to boost aviation safety across Africa.
A statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection(NSIB), Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji informed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on training and collaboration to prevent accidents and incidents in the air transport sector.
AAAU, the first Pan-African University dedicated to aviation, aerospace and environmental science, addresses two critical needs such as research and development, and skilled workforce development.
The MoU will propel Africa’s aviation and aerospace industry forward.
At the signing ceremony at the NSIB Training School, the Director-General/ chief Executive Officer, NSIB, Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., highlighted key aspects of the MoU, which includes sharing facilities, building capacity, and collaborating on initiatives to make African skies safer, while
NSIB’s support includes granting AAAU access to their facilities.
This will foster a smooth exchange of resources and expertise, solidifying the commitment to improving aviation safety in Africa.
Expressing gratitude to NSIB for the partnership, Director of Physical Planning and Works at AAAU, Engr. Masud Yerima, acknowledged the crucial role NSIB played in AAAU’s establishment and progress.
He also commended Badeh’s leadership and dedication to advancing NSIB.
AAAU pledged its commitment to working with NSIB on mutually beneficial endeavors to achieve their shared goals, adding that this partnership is a significant step towards a culture of safety and excellence in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
NSIB and AAAU aim to benefit the entire industry and the nation as a whole by leveraging their combined strengths.
