The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured Nigerian Hajj pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia for this year’s 2024 pilgrimage of enhanced and seamless services at the various airports, where airlift will be taking place.

The assurance is coming on the heels of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) announcement that the preparatory time line released by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah began earlier than usual and it is expected to end before its normal time.

The assurance to provide enhanced airport services was restated by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, during a press briefing in Lagos.

She emphasized collaboration with airlines, ground handling companies, and other stakeholders to streamline operations and expedite the airlift of pilgrims.

Improvements will include shorter queues, faster processing times, and better baggage handling.

Orah, stated that a new system will be implemented to ensure a smoother flow of passengers and luggage, addressing delays experienced in previous years.

“We are bringing a lot of changes to how we handle hajj operations in our airports ranging from the queue that pilgrims experience in the past in our airports as they are going to hajj and having to queue up for a long time, conveying their properties and the services render them, all those delays, we are bringing in a new system that will create an ease of movement for both the passengers and the goods.

FAAN, she said, will also prioritise excellent customer service and a clean environment throughout the Hajj period, with the aim of providing a positive experience for all travelers.
