The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) has suspended three private jet operators for violating Permit for Non-Commercial Flights(PNCF).
The three were nabbed following heightened surveillance by the regulatory body.
NCAA said that their operators permits have been suspended forthwith and that has also directed that a revaluation of all permit holders by April 14, 2024 and they are also required to submit relevant documents within 72 hours.
NCAA’s action followed a directive by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo in November 2023, that there should be a crackdown on the operators of unauthorised commercial flights.
Recall that the Acting Director General Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA),Capt. Chris Najomo, had issued a stern warning against the misuse of private jets for commercial purposes.
In March, the DGCAA the authority deployed officials to monitor private jet terminals nationwide,leading to the discovery of three operators violating regulations.
Najomo emphasised zero tolerance for violations and warned existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders against misusing aircraft for commercial charters, stressing that only AOC-listed aircraft are authorized for such services.
The NCAA boss urged the public to use services only from operators with valid AOCs and called on industry players to report violations promptly for necessary action.
