…Accuses APC Of Sponsoring Litigation
The Edo State chapter of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the revered palace of the Oba of Benin to play dirty politics.
The PDP said it finds the desperation of the APC to take over power in Edo State very disturbing because of the party’s lack of boundaries and decency in the pursuit of power.
A statement signed by the Chairman,PDP Edo State, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi and made available in Benin, stated that the APC has taken its desperation to frightening heights with the deliberate misinformation about the litigation in court concerning the Oba of Benin and some Enigies.
The state chairman noted, “As we get closer to the September Governorship election in Edo State, the APC in their usual gestapo style, has gone to town with their propaganda laced with obvious lies and misinformation. In their desperation, they normally have no bounds . They are ready to destroy anyone or institution to achieve their goal.
Their most recent is the revered palace of the Oba of Benin. In order to score cheap political points and in the absence of nothing to campaign with to the enlightened Edo voters, the APC has launched a campaign of deliberate misinformation and falsehood aimed at causing disaffection between His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki and His Royal Majesty, Omo N’,Oba N’Edo Uku Okukpolokpo, Oba Ewuare 11, The Oba of Benin.
“It is unfortunate that rather than stick to issues on how they intend to mitigate the untold hardships and sufferings that the APC led Federal Government has unleashed on Nigerians for the past eight years, they have chosen to desecrating the most respected surviving traditional institution in the whole of the black world; the palace of the Oba of Benin.
“We in the PDP are concerned about this unethical route the APC has chosen. We have it on credible intelligence, that the ongoing litigations are being sponsored by the APC just to ensure that the feud between the royal brothers is not resolved in order to continue the campaign of calumny against the Governor of Edo State.
“The PDP wishes to put on record that as a party, we have utmost respect and reverence for His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin who is a father to all. We call on the APC to embrace issues based campaigns and stop these unholy acts. Our traditional institution should be spared and protected from the destructive tendencies of the APC.”
