The Kwara State Government has stated that it will continue to support  International Aviation College(IAC) within its limited resources in all aspects.

This is just as the state government said that it has done a lot for the college since this present dispensation in the state came on board in 2015 and we will continue to do more with a view to repositioning the college for effective service delivery.

This was disclosed by the representative of the Governor, the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education,Dr. Mary  Arinde at  the opening session of the 2023 annual training of the  League Of Airport And Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) at  International Aviation College, Ilorin.

Arinde disclosed that the State Government is considering the request from the management of IAC, Ilorin for the establishment of School of Engineering, as this will not only boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the college, but will also reposition the school to access Tetfund intervention.

The Commissioner said that other requests from the college such as establishment of short courses like cabin crew are also receiving the attention of the state government.

The State Government, he said, has created the enabling environment for the college to collaborate with sister institutions to promote the aviation sector.

Arrangements, she said have been concluded on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IAC, Ilorin and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria

“Let me use this opportunity to inform you that any moment from now, the Management of IAC, Ilorin will be heading to Abuja or Zaria to sign the MoU with NCAT, Zaria,” she said.

She said that IAC is presently in partnership with the Nigerian Army in the area of training.

The Chief of Army Staff, she informed, has sent down 10 Army Officers to IAC, Ilorin for Private Pilot License (PPL) Training, assuring that the college is determined to complete the training  within the stipulated period of six months.

The  Army Officers’ Training, the Commissioner said  is holding concurrently with the training of about 40 Flight Dispatchers most of whom are nominees of the various 16 Local Government in Kwara State.

She appealed  to the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents(LAAC)to continue to put up good reports about the College  to the outside world.

According to her, “We will continue to be your partner in progress in the Aviation Industry.”

Also speaking, the Rector of the College, Capt. Yakubu Okatah thanked LAAC for finding the college worthy for its training, adding that last year when LAAC was at the school , it  was wonderful having its members

The Rector said that the college is very pleased to once again LAAC for this year’s training

He appealed to LAAC to shun sensational reporting  before, during and after the training.

The representative of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA), Mr Chris Agabi said that NCAA will continue to support LAAC on the training as part of its efforts to move the aviation industry forward.

He urged LAAC at all times to continue to write quality and balanced stories devoid of sensationalising  while thanking the college for the warm reception.

On his part, the LAAC Chairman, Sulieman Idris who thanked  NCAA  for making the training possible and IAC for  Putting things in place for a successful training

He appealed to stakeholders and authorities to show more commitment for the overall development of the sector.

He stated that the partnership between LAAC and IAC  will continue to grow higher and higher , adding that LAAC will continue to support IAC  to achieve its vision and objectives.
