A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All-Progressive Congress (APC), Victoria Amu, has cross- carpeted to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)from the APC.
This is just as she threw her weight behind the PDP flag bearer in the September 21 governorship election, Dr Asue Ighodalo.
She disclosed her defection and support at a press briefing at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City on Tuesday.
She stated that she was happy to end her “18 years of political wilderness” in the APC.
Amu, a former Senior Special Assistant, SSA, pledged to deliver the Owan Federal Constituency for the PDP candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, in the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo state.
Amu expressed her belief in the PDP’s vision and leadership, adding that the party’s policies align with her aspirations for the people of Owan.
According to her , “This moment is not just a personal milestone but a commitment to our shared vision of progress, development, and prosperity for our beloved state. I am deeply honoured by the warm welcome and the overwhelming support I have received from each one of you.
“As we approach the governorship election in September, I am filled with a great sense of purpose and determination. Our Edo state faces significant challenges, and it is our collective responsibility to address them with boldness, integrity, and a clear vision for the future.
” I Victoria Amu is ready to co-lead with Barr. Asue Ighodalo and Barr Osarodion Ogie, and our party to victory, we will champion the causes that matter most to our people, and to implement policies that will bring tangible improvements to the lives of all Edo citizens.
She continued, “Our journey to victory will be a testament to our unity, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the values we hold dear. Together, we will build a campaign that resonates with every LGA, Ward, voting unit and community as the goal addresses the real needs of our people, and that inspires hope and confidence in our leadership.
