…As 119 Passengers, 6 Crew Disembark With No injuries
A Max Air Boeing Aircraft Flight NGL1649, registration number 5N-ADB with 119 passengers and 6 crew on board this evening suffered burst tyres on takeoff roll at Yola Airport
This was confirmed in a short statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mrs. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji
“This evening, Max Air’s flight NGL1649, a Boeing 737 with registration 5N-ADB, carrying 119 passengers and 6 crew members, was cleared for takeoff from Yola Airport en route to Abuja. During the takeoff roll, a loud bang was heard, identified as the bursting of the rear gear tyres.
“Initially, two tyres burst. While attempting to taxi off the runway, the remaining two tyres also burst, rendering the aircraft completely disabled,” NSIB statement revealed.
The statement informed that there was no casualty and there were no injuries reported.
A go-team, led by NSIB Director General Capt. Alex Badeh Jr. , the statement said, will visit the incident site tomorrow morning to conduct an investigation.
