
The Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) Zone A has decorated 156 officers that were promoted recently for their commitment, hard work and professionalism.
Zone A comprises of Lagos and Ogun states.
The recent promotions marks the highest number of officer .
This development demonstrates the remarkable growth of the NIS in enhancing its operational effectiveness and leadership structure.
A breakdown of the number of the promoted officers showed 108 elevated from Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration (ACI) to Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration (DCI). Additionally, the agency elevated 42 officers from Chief Superintendents of Immigration (CSI) to Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration (ACI).
In addition, six officers at the zonal headquarters received important upgrades, reinforcing the leadership structure within the service.
At the Zonal Headquarters, the agency elevated 15 DCIs and two ACIs. Additionally, four CSIs and SIs, along with 11 DSIs and three ASI1s, received promotions.
In the Lagos Command, the agency promoted 33 officers to DCI and seven to ACI, demonstrating steady internal growth.
Similarly, the Lagos Seaport and Marine Command saw nine officers elevated to DCI and four to ACI, enhancing the command’s operational efficiency.
Also, the Seme Border Command promoted nine officers to DCI and three to ACI, emphasising the importance of effective border management for national security.
The Ogun State Command had three officers elevated to DCI and five to ACI, further strengthening leadership within the command.
At the Lagos State Passport Command, 15 officers were promoted to DCI and five to ACI, emphasising the commitment to improving passport services.
In addition, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command saw five officers advance to DCI and 16 to ACI, enhancing its ability to facilitate migration at the nation’s busiest airport.
Speaking, ACG ME Onilede, commended the Officer for their dedication, emphasising that these promotions reflect hard work, consistent dedication and unwavering professionalism in service.
She expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General Kemi Nandap for ensuring the end of career stagnation in the service.
“I urge the decorated officers to uphold the highest standards of decency while performing their official duties,” the ACG said.
“I encourage you to embrace this monumental occasion with humility and carry out your responsibilities diligently. With every new rank, greater expectations arise, demanding even more dedication from the officers in their duties. Particularly, Zone A officers must remain firm in their responsibilities, ensuring proper management of migration matters.”ACG Onilede concluded by saying, “Work hard and manage migration properly to meet the growing challenges in our evolving society,” she added.
