…As Airport CP Commends DPO, Team For Rejecting N500,000 Bribe
The Divisional Police officer of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport(NAA) Abuja, SP, Umar Sani and his team have arrested one Murtala Abdulahi 46 years old and three others for stealing Aviation Fuel also known as Jet-A1
Abdulahi was arrested in a Honda salon car with registration number Lagos GGE 680 EL while conveying 50 jerry cans containing aviation fuel.
A statement signed by Public Relations Officer (PRO), Airport Command, CSP Daramola Kazeem, explained that the Police arrested the suspected Jet A1 thief while on routine patrol at the NAA landside in the middle of the night at about 0300hrs on Wednesday, November 6,2024.
The statement by the Command’s PRO further explained that the suspect confessed that the Jet-A1 was siphoned from Aerotan Hanger tank at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport(NAIA), Abuja.
Abdulahi’s confession led to the arrest of others who conspired with him to carry out the act
The suspects are : Abdulahi Jibril 26 years, Kabiru Hassan 25 years and Habib
Besides, the statement informed that the suspects offered the sum of N500,000 to the DPO and his team to evade prosecution but that it was rejected
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of of Police in charge of Airport Command, CP Aminu Raji commended the DPO and his team for rejecting the bribe of Five hundred thousand naira (#500,000,00) brought forward by the suspects to evade being prosecuted.
He said the rejection aligns with the ethos of the Nigeria Police as led by the zero corruption tolerant Inspector General of Police(IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.
The product which street value is put at about two million naira(N2 million )has been impounded while investigation into the matter is almost concluded after which the suspects will be arraigned in court.
