An Allied Air Cargo airplane, registration number 5N-JRT, today at about 10.05 am skidded off the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
However, it is not clear whether cargo aircraft skidded off while landing or taking off.
The incident occurred when the plane skidded off the runway, with five persons onboard and were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.
Ontimenewsng.com learnt that the passengers were taken to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic for further medical checks.
The Airport Emergency Response Team and accident investigators were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation.
Speaking,, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, explained tha the runway is currently being cleared, and that it will be reopen for operations as soon as possible.
She advised the public to refrain from speculating about the incident until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB)
She expressed gratitude to the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience during this time.
The incident, she said is currently under investigation, and that further details will be provided as more information becomes available.
