The unity, progress and development of Africa is not in the hands of the West, but entirely our responsibility as Africans, wether we now choose to take responsibility or refused to, will determine the destiny and future of Africa.
America was built by Americans who were determined to make a difference. We must learn to say we are Africans and if possible, I am a Nigerian, I am a Ghanaian, depending on your country of origin.
United Kingdom was built by Britons and they accepted responsibility. It is time and now is, for us to re-ignite the African brotherhood spirit, making the continent a haven. The rate at which our brothers and sisters brain drain,tells how much our leaders need to sacrifice and change the narrative, their commitment to making Africa a united, peaceful, prosperous and free continent, where not just trade binds us,as in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, beyond this, we need a bond that will bind us together in brotherhood as Africans. This event of Ghana- Nigeria Award is a significant move in the direction of African Brotherhood, it is a barrier breaker, race and colour does not impede on the unity that this award will bring to bare in the future of Africa.
Ghana and Nigeria, apart from the ECOWAS relationship, are also members of the African Union , but the Union that binds us together is love for every African. We should be able to enter the territory of each other as one moving from the parlour or sitting room to bedroom with ease, not without security and diplomatic restraints to emplace our sovereignty but acceptance of each other as brothers.
Africa has come of age, we are better United than divided,we can do better if we allow the spirit of African brotherhood to permeate our doings. We have the intellects , we have the resources, we have the land, we have all it takes, we are leaders in different shades and callings, we must breast up to making Africa Great, better call Great Africa, then the generation after us will call us blessed.
