The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said it has redirected flights to the domestic runway, 18L/36R of the Murtala Muhammed Airport(MMA),Lagos, following the temporary closure of the international runway 18R/36L to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work.
A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiageli Orah,made available to Aviation Correspondents,said the
closure, is scheduled to last from 03:00 hours on 3rd March 2025 to 23:59 hours on March 4, 2025, and that it is part of efforts to maintain the airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition.
FAAN in the statement explained that the rehabilitation works specifically focus on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway.
It added that the move is geared towards ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.
FAAN assured airlines and passengers that the temporary closure would not cause disruptions to flight operations, as all flights would be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R.
FAAN, the statement assured is committed to upholding its core values of safety, security, and comfort.
Meanwhile, FAAN has advised passengers and airline operators to take note of the development and comply with all operational adjustments during the period.
