The Revenue Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA),Hon. Adetola Okanlawon, has stated that the Business Club Ikeja(BCI) Trade Expo 2025 is not only an exhibition but that is also a symbol of resilience, innovation, and economic potential.

Okanlawon stated this while presenting a paper titled, “The Role of Business in Economic Development” at the opening of the BCI 2025 Trade Expo in Lagos.

Okanlawon, who is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Conference 57 of Revenue Chairmen in Lagos State also said that event such as the BCI 2025 Trade Expo
play a vital role in strengthening business ecosystem, fostering partnerships, and unlocking new opportunities for growth.

“We are gathered here today not just to showcase products and services but to build relationships that will shape the future of business in Lagos and beyond. The conversations, collaborations, and innovations that emerge from this platform will contribute significantly to the economic development of our communities,” he said.
On the role of business in economic development, Okanlawon submitted that businesses, whether small, medium, or large, are the backbone of any thriving economy ,as they drive job creation, wealth generation, and community development.

He pointed out that in Lagos State in general and in Onigbongbo LCDA in particular, the critical role played by the private sector in our collective progress is recognised

He noted that as government representatives, his role is to create an enabling environment that supports business growth.

This, he said includes: improving revenue systems, streamlining processes, and ensuring that policies foster rather than hinder enterprise development.

Speaking on encouragement for collaboration and innovation, Okanlawon said that the event has gone beyond competition but that it is about collection and synergizing.

According to him, “This expo is not just about competition—it is about collaboration. It is about finding synergies between businesses, sharing insights, and leveraging innovation to solve real-world problems. I encourage everyone here today to maximize this opportunity: network, explore partnerships, and think beyond conventional business models.”

Technology, digital transformation, and strategic alliances, he posted are the key drivers of business success in today’s world, adding that those who embrace change and innovation will not only survive but thrive.

The future, the Onigbongbo LCDA Revenue Chairman, said belongs to those who are willing to take calculated risks and build strong networks.

Okanlawon advised investors and policymakers to create an ecosystem that supports and nurtures businesses, where startups can scale, SMEs expand, and large corporations can continue driving economic prosperity.
