President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of the tenure of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS),Mrs. Kemi Nandap through December 31, 2026.

Nandap began her career in NIS on October 9, 1989.

She was appointed by Tinubu as Comptroller-General of NIS on March 1, 2024, to serve till August 31, 2025.

Under her leadership, NIS witnessed significant advancements in its core mandate, with notable improvements in border management, modernisation of immigration processes and national security measures.

Tinubu commended the Nandap for her exemplary leadership and urged her to continue dedicating herself to the service’s strategic priorities, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting the NIS in fulfilling its mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and promote safe, legal, and orderly migration.

Recall that the Coalition for Ethical Standard ,Accountability and Good Governance (ESAGG).had stated categorically that the Public Service
Rule(PSR) under which a public servant is expected to retire after 60 years of age or having served for 35 years, whichever comes first has no provision for extension.
Nandap was expected to retire October 10,2024 but was appointed to serve for another 18 months that will expire September 2025.

But with the breach of Public Service
Rule(PSR) and reappointment by the President, Nandap’s tenure will now end on December 31, 2026.
