The Federal Government through the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has stated that it is committed to creating an enabling environment for the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies(NANTA) members to carry out travel industry operations.
The Minister said in his goodwill message at the 49th Annual General Meeting(AGM) of the association with the theme, “Collective Prosperity Through Market Protection,” held yesterday in Lagos.
The 49th AGM was attended by NANTA members across the country.
The Minister, who was represented by the Director of Special Duties, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN), Henry Agbebire , said that the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for initiatives that promote industry standards, protect legitimate market players, and enhance customer confidence.
“We recognise the role of travel agencies as critical partners in the air travel value chain and remain committed to creating an enabling environment for your operations to thrive.
“As you reflect on the past year and chart a bold course for the future, I urge you to continue upholding the values of transparency, innovation, and excellence. The government welcomes your collaboration in deepening the industry’s resilience and unlocking new opportunities for prosperity.”
The Minister acknowledged that NANTA has, over the years, demonstrated admirable leadership and commitment to professionalism, capacity building, and advocacy within the travel industry.
In his words, “Your consistency in convening stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and forge strategic partnerships is commendable and aligns with the government’s broader vision for the aviation and tourism sectors as enablers of economic growth,” he said.
Keyamo posited that the theme for this year’s AGM, “Collective Prosperity Through Market Protection,” is both timely and relevant, particularly as Nigeria continues to navigate a rapidly evolving global travel landscape.
This, he said underscores the importance of collaboration, regulation, and shared responsibility in safeguarding the integrity and sustainability of Nigeria’s travel and tourism ecosystem.
