The Airport Police Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, said it has made adequate security arrangements to ensure the security of lives and property before, during and after the festive periods across all airports in the country.
In view of this, the Commissioner of Police, Olufunke Ogunbode,, has directed all Area Commanders (ACs) Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) Heads of Units to lead the security deployments in their Areas of Responsibilities (AOR) and ensure adequate security at points of entry and exit of airports
She also tasked them to ensure 24/7 visibility and vehicular patrols couple with effective traffic and crowd control for free flow of traffic.
A statement signed by Public Relations Officer (PRO), Airport Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police(CSP), Daramola Kazeem, informed that in the operation order earlier released for the period of Good Friday, Easter Sunday and throughout the holidays, the Commissioner directed SIB to be vigilant and ensure that suspicious activities are acted on not only in the terminal buildings but also in churches within the airports AOR.
Furthermore, the Commissioner directed the Protocol Unit to effectively see to the seamless passage of dignitaries in and out of airports.
She tasked airport users and stakeholders alike to report any suspicious movements/objects in and around airports to police.
The Airport Police boss warned Police escorts coming to airports with their principals to comply with airports parking rules to avoid confrontations with other security agencies.
