Urges Duo To Explain To President Tinubu, Nigerians

Says Nigeria’s Internal Security Leaking, Bleeding Under Interior Minister, CG, NIS

The Coalition for Ethical Standard Accountability and Good Governance (ESAGG),has described the trip to China by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap at a time when the entire spectrum of Nigeria’s security architecture are looking for solutions to the incessant attacks on Military bases and units in Borno State as wasteful and a misplaced priority.

This is just as Coalition also stated that the trip by the duo was deliberate and an attempt to work in silo.

The ESAGG made its position known in a statement signed by the President of the Coalition, Ebuka Nwachukwu and available to Ontimenewsng.com today.

The ESAGG President said that that the two government officials embarked on the journey at a period when there were security threats
from Kala Balge, Dikwa, Koibe, Marte, Izge, Gwoza and Buni Gari in Yobe State an internal security defect that calls for stringent Border Security and management directly under the purview of the Minister of Interior and the agency saddled with affairs of Nigeria Border; the Nigeria Immigration Service .

Nwachukwu posited that is high time the Minister of Interior understand his core mandate;interior security, adding that that is why he has NSCDC, NIS, NCoS under him to supervise, when the Border is said to be porous.

According to Nwachukwu, “What measures has he put in place, with the much talk about the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Centre( BATTIC), a replica of the Technology Building in the NIS?

In his words, “Of what significant benefit is the centre and what are the gains in helping government to curb the criss- crossing of borders by the Boko Haram elements and their foreign partners unchecked?

Reports, Nwachukwu said have it that Niger Republic and Chad have relented due to fragile relationship, hence the free movement across the borders, counter attacks and infiltration into the country,an issue vested on the Interior Ministry and Nigeria Immigration Service.

He argued that if governance by extension duty call is anything to go by,the duo of the Minister of Interior and NIS CG have to explain their China Trip to Mr President, who appointed them and Nigerians who are also waiting for their explanations at this material time.

He pointed out that Tinubu has reduced foreign trips for appointees of government, wondering why the rules are bent by some appointees in defiance of the rule of law.

The ESAGG called on other human rights groups to draw the attention of Mr President to the abuse of office and negligence of duty call.

He lamented that the Interior Security of Nigeria is leaking and bleeding under the Minister and Comptroller General
