
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said if has nabbed a 43-year-old female make-up artist, identified as Adekoya Adebukonla Mary for being in possession of 2.20 kilograms of cocaine.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Media and Advocacy of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi,
Babafemi in the statement informed that suspect, who claimed to be travelling to India for a fibroid surgery was nabbed by operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja Lagos.
The lady, the Director said was arrested on Monday, June 16, 2025 based on credible intelligence.
Babafemi also disclosed that the prohibited substance was discovered factory fitted in the walls of her bag.

He explained that under surveillance, Adekoya was allowed to check in her luggage and arrested at the point of boarding Qatar Airways flight to India via Doha.
“When her luggage was searched, two large parcels of cocaine weighing 2.20kg were found concealed in the walls of the suitcase she was carrying.
“In her statement, she claimed she embarked on the trip for financial benefits but under the pretext of going to India for surgery to remove fibroid from her stomach”, Babafemi said
Further investigation, the NDLEA revealed indicated that the suspect was recruited and funded by a drug baron it identified as Akeem Ayinde Adekanbi who is currently at large.
NDLEA further revealed that Adekanbi owns Rockford Hotel located in the Sango area of Ogun State, while he lived at Igbe Laara in Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State before his disappearance.

Similarly, NDLEA operatives of the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI) on Wednesday, June 18, uncovered 850 grams of cocaine concealed in cloth hangers heading to Australia at a courier company in Lagos.
Also, at another courier firm on Thursday, June 19, the team intercepted a shipment of sewn female dresses containing 1.3kg Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, going to Bahrain.
