The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)has grounded a Rano aircraft flying from Kano–Sokoto with registration number 5N-BZY that experienced failure on engine 1.

According to NCAA smoke was noticed in the cabin and flight gotdeck and Oxygen masks were donned.

As a result, the appropriate safety protocols were initiated on the ground for landing.

The smoke dissipated and that the pilot landed the aircraft safely without incident at 15. 34pm.

“The NCAA Directorate of Airworthiness instructed that the aircraft 5N-BZY remain grounded until the conclusion of investigations,”NCAA said.
The pilot reported the incident to Air Traffic Control(ATC) at 1505

The rescue aircraft that was to airlift passengers out of Sokoto had already boarded Abuja-Katsina passengers.

It would have created problems to de-board those passengers.

The flight out of Sokoto was, therefore, cancelled while the 5N-BYZ is still on the ground with engineers working on it.
