Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Lagos today adjourned till July 17, 2025 the trial of an alleged drug trafficker, Ahmadu Abubakar who was alleged to have imported Cannabis Sativa in eight jumbo suitcases from Canada to Nigeria.
Abubakar is charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for alleged importation of Cannabis Sativa weighing 164.50kilograms from Canada to Nigeria.
When the matter came up for trial today the trial judge, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu informed counsel to litigants that he will not be taking up any matter for hearing due to ill health, he therefore adjourned the matter till July 17, 2025 for trial.
The charge against the defendants reads: That you Ahmadu Abubakar and Ughenu Nnaife Francis who has already been convicted for drug trafficking, were alleged to have sometime in May 2024 with one Black (now at large) conspired
to traffic in 164.50kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a Narcotic Drug similar to Cocaine, LSD, Heroin from Canada to Nigeria and you thereby committed an
act which is an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 14(b) of
the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

That you Ahmadu Abubakar adult, male, sometime in May 2024 procured Ughenu Nnaife Francis currently serving jail term to traffic 164.50 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD, Heroin from Canada to Nigeria and you thereby committed an act which is contrary to section 21(2)(d) and punishable under section 11(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
