Attacks Cabin Crew,FAAN, BASL AVSEC Personnel, Others

As Terminal Operator Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy

The Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited(BASL), operators of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Lagos has handed over the arrested Ibom Air passenger, Ms.Comfort Emmanson,who exhibited unruly and disruptive behaviour to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The passenger according to a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi did not only exhibit unruly and disruptive behaviour but also displayed multiple acts of aggression and non-compliance that endangered the safety of airline crew members and airport security personnel.

The statement further stated that on August 10, 2025 at approximately 2:30pm, a serious incident of passenger misconduct occurred involving Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who arrived on Ibom Air flight QI 513 from Uyo.

The incident, Yinka-Olawuyi said began when the passenger refused to comply with standard safety protocols regarding mobile phone usage during landing procedures.

Subsequently, Ms. Emmanson physically assaulted multiple personnel, including:
• Ibom Air cabin crew member Ms. Juliana Edward
• BASL and FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers
• Additional security personnel during transportation and processing.

The passenger has been handed over to FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) for further investigation and The Airport Command of the Nigerian Police Force has also been notified and is aware of the situation.

The Management made it absolutely clear that such behavior will NOT be tolerated under any cumstances within our terminal facilities.

“We operate under a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding:
• Physical assault or threats against airline crew members
• Violence or aggression toward airport security personnel
• Non-compliance with aviation safety regulations and crew instructions
• Disruptive behavior that compromises the safety and security of passengers and staff.

BASL pointed out that passengers who engage in disruptive or violent behavior at MMA2 will face:
• Immediate intervention by trained security personnel
• Detention and formal investigation procedures
• Full prosecution under applicable Nigerian aviation laws
• Potential placement on airline and airport restriction lists
• Civil responsibility for losses and disruptions incurred

“We urge all travelers using MMA2 facilities to comply promptly with all crew instructions and safety protocols, treat airline and airport personnel with respect and courtesy, report any concerning behavior to security personnel immediately, and remember that aviation security measures exist to protect everyone’s safety. “

BASL said that the terminal remain committed to delivering world-class aviation services while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and customer experience within its facilities.
