Increase rate of One–Chance victims and recent death of a nurse and lawyer in the news ignited fresh fear of the resurgence of one chance menace and it’s tendency of creating fear in the mind of commuters who for necessity have to board public vehicles to and from their work place daily, only to face the threat of one chance killers on their way to work or while returning after work.

It is another hydra headed security threat bedeviling law abiding, innocent citizens apart from bandits kidnapping and terrorists attacks witnessed in the country.

While the Military are battling banditry terrorists in the North West,North East,North Central and other regions that are using kidnappings and attacks on communities as soft targets and extorting millions in the name of ransom,an economic terrorism used to recoup and finance their terror activities, purchase logistics and other services they rely on to survive as terrorists in the forest and densely bushy terrains where they hybernates as sleeper cells and hideouts.

The Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,Federal Forest Guards can leverage on the local knowledge and covert local intelligence of the Civilian JTFs around FCT to comb, patrol and monitor late night and early morning moving vehicles and suspected high speed vehicles that are likely involved in the one chance menace to curtail their operations and frustrate their clandestine activities within the FCT.

The FCT model of this security will help as a template for other cities where the activities of the nefarious One Chance is prevalent and notable to put a stop to the cold blooded killings of individuals going for legitimate works and returning only to fall victims of the one chance operators.

The community policing though not officially sanctioned by government will be a security strategy to combine both conventional policing, patrol early morning and late night with the support of CJTF which on its own will open new frontier of gainful employment for the teaming youths and curb the devilish activities of One-Chance opportunistic killers ravaging the FCT, inflicting fears and threatening the peace of commuters who must use public vehicles daily to get to work and return safely.

This recommendation and suggestion of adopting and deploying regulated and vetted CJTF on daily monitoring for both surveillance and patrol early in the morning and late night along the roads, streets within the FCT and environs will reduce or eliminate the One– Chance menace and beef up support for the FCT joint security teams effort in making it crime free and safe for residents.
