Aircraft operators in Nigeria’s South-West region can now heave a sigh of relief as the multimillion-naira Jet A1 aviation fuel depot operated by BOVAS Oil and Gas Limited at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport (SLAIIA), Ibadan, has commenced full operations.

With the facility now operational, aircraft flying into Ibadan Airport can conveniently refuel on site, eliminating delays associated with fuel logistics and significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

The development was underscored during a courtesy visit by the management team of Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, to the Managing Director of BOVAS Oil and Gas Limited, Dr. Victoria Samson.

Speaking during the visit, the Airport Manager, Mr. Gbenga Afuwape, commended BOVAS for the timely establishment of the Jet A1 fuel depot, describing it as a major boost to airport operations.

He noted that the presence of the facility has reduced aircraft turnaround time, lowered operational costs for airlines, and ensured the steady and reliable availability of aviation fuel at the airport.

Since the resumption of flight operations at Ibadan Airport, BOVAS has been actively supplying Jet A1 fuel to Air Peace and other operating airlines, reinforcing the airport’s readiness to support increased air traffic and expanded commercial activities.

In her response, Dr. Victoria Samson expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed BOVAS’ commitment to supporting aviation development in Ibadan and across Nigeria.

She emphasised the company’s readiness to deepen business partnerships with the airport in line with its growth and expansion objectives.

The Airport Manager further assured BOVAS of the airport management’s commitment to continuous infrastructural and operational improvements.

He disclosed that the Oyo State Government is intensifying efforts to commence Hajj operations at the airport this year, describing it as a significant opportunity that would further boost aviation fuel demand and business activities.

He also revealed that the expected resumption of Green Africa Airways’ operations would enhance passenger traffic and commercial viability at the airport.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to sustained collaboration and strategic partnership aimed at strengthening aviation operations, improving service delivery, and driving mutual growth.
