Residents of Lemon Drive now known as Olusayero Street, Suberu Oje in Alagbado Local Government Area of Lagos State through their lawyer, Jimmy Alara And Associates have petition the Inspector General of Police, IGP over the illegal use of police in aiding the demolition of their properties by thugs and miscreants purporting to be executing a judgement in suit number 10/73/M/2010.
The petition dated February 13, 2026 is titled ” Illegal Use Of Police In Aiding And Supporting The Demolition Of Properties In Suberu Oje Area, Alagbado By Thugs And Miscreants Purporting Execution Of Judgement In Suit Number ID/73/M/2010.”
In the petition to the Inspector General of police residents stated that on the 26th of January, 2026 they woke up to the presence of over 100 Police personnel, thugs, miscreants allegedly on a mission to execute a judgement in Suit No 1D/73/M/2010.
Petitioners said miscreants with the active support of Police Personnel alleged to be from Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos and Police Personnel from the Lagos State Task force on Environmental Offences stood by and gave security support while the touts unleashed a reign of terror on the residents, destroying their properties with bulldozers and hired laborers. .
Petitioners added that this act of brigandage. prompted the residents to reach out to the Federal Housing Authority who denied authorizing the large scale of properties’ destruction in the name of executing’ a court judgement. “
Residents said attempts made by officials of the Federal Housing Authority to paste disclaimer notices on buildings in the area were rebuffed by these thugs.
Petitioners said that having known that the thugs were acting contrary to the instructions of the Judgement Creditor, the honourable step the Police Personnel ought to have taking is to withdraw, especially after the Federal Housing Authority has brought it to the attention of the Assistant-Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police Lagos state that the actions of these miscreants did not receive their blessing.
“Sir, the following questions beg for answers;
. Should Police personnel and leadership at both the State and Zonal Command act by providing security for persons purporting to be acting on behalf of a judgement creditor without prior confirmation whether the said judgement creditor authorized them to execute judgement on their behalf?
. Having received a correspondence from the said judgement creditor disclaiming their actions, should the Police leadership not have honorably withdrawn their personnel forthwith?
. In the course of executing a judgement, should the Police standby and watch innocent and helpless citizens lose their hard earned properties to destruction by touts? Outside the manner the court authorized? .
Consequently the petitioners call on the IGP to immediate withdraw those compromised Police personnel and
deploy a neutral team to ensure the restoration of order, peace and a halt to further demolition of properties.
They further asked for a thorough investigation as to who authorized the deployment of the Police personnel and the instructions given to them especially in view of ‘their open support in the destruction or properties, and arrest ‘and prosecution of persons found culpable
