The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Branch, has elected new executives, with Comrade (Alhaji) Anifowose Olusesan Gafar emerging as Chairman.

The election recorded 478 members, while 268 accredited voters cast , their votes

The Chairman, Comrade Anifowose Gafar secured 268 votes, while the Vice Chairman, Comrade Victor Ifedayo polled 267 votes. 

The Secretary, Comrade Obasi Ugwumba got 268 votes and the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Balogun Olubunmi Esther had 244 votes.

The Treasurer, Comrade Kingsley Okechukwu Uzoamaka polled 266 votes, while 267 votes went to the Financial Treasurer, Comrade Esuruoso Ajibola, then Comrade Yasir Yaqub Alhassan emerging as the branch Public Relations Officer (PRO) with 258 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Anifowase described his emergence as a collective mandate, noting that it reflects the shared aspirations of members for a stronger and more progressive union, and not a personal triumph.

He pledged to lead with transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, while prioritising the welfare, rights, and dignity of members, stressing that these ideals would serve as guiding principles of his administration rooted in fairness, courage, and justice.

The Chairman commended the Electoral Committee for conducting a credible and transparent election, adding that their efforts have reinforced confidence in the unions democratic system.

He also appreciated the National President of ATSSSAN and Principal National Officers (PNOs) within NCAA for their continued support and leadership, which he said remain critical to the growth and stability of the branch.

Calling for unity, Anifowase urged members to move past election differences and work together in the collective interest of the union, emphasising that there is no victor and no vanquished, but comrades united by a common purpose.

He further extended a hand of partnership to NCAA Management, led by Capt. Chris Najomo, affirming the unions commitment to constructive engagement through dialogue, mutual respect, and the protection of workers rights.

The new leadership is expected to focus on strengthening the union and advancing members welfare.
