The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has inaugurated a new State Executive Council, ushering in a renewed commitment to tourism growth, stakeholder engagement, and stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The inauguration ceremony brought together key players from the tourism, hospitality, travel, culture, and entertainment industries, alongside representatives of government agencies and tourism institutions.
Speaking at the event, the South-South Vice President and Zonal Coordinator of FTAN, Mrs. Faith Essien, charged the newly inaugurated executives to provide purposeful leadership that will strengthen the voice of the private sector while fostering strategic partnerships with government and development stakeholders.
She emphasised that tourism remains one of the most viable sectors for job creation, investment attraction, cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and economic diversification, noting that the industry can only reach its full potential through collective action and coordinated stakeholder engagement.
Essien commended the continued stretegic support of the Akwa Ibom State Government towards tourism development and acknowledged the visible efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, led by Dr. Anieti Udofia, as well as the Akwa Ibom State Hotels and Tourism Board under the leadership of Chairman Mrs. Ime Udo to bringing visibility and progress blah blah blah………………..
According to her, the inauguration represents more than a change in leadership; it marks a renewed opportunity for industry practitioners, policymakers, investors, and tourism promoters with intentionality to work together in positioning Akwa Ibom as a leading destination for culture, leisure, business, and investment tourism.
The new executive council is expected to drive initiatives that support destination development, capacity building, tourism advocacy, industry visibility, investment promotion, and stronger engagement with both local and international tourism stakeholders.
With the inauguration concluded, FTAN Akwa Ibom begins a new chapter focused on collaboration, innovation, and sustainable tourism development for the benefit of industry operators, communities, and the state economy.
