…Miraculous As All Passengers Evacuated Safely
A Japanese Airlines aircraft A350 flight 516 with 379 passengers on board burst into flame after it collided with a Japanese coastguard plane on landing at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport
There are reports that one person onboard the coastguard plane escaped, while the other five remain unaccounted for
According to Japanese Airlines all 379 people on board the plane – passengers and crew – have been safely evacuated,
Videos and images posted online show the Japan Airlines plane engulfed in flames on the runway, while footage from inside the aircraft shows passengers surrounded by thick smoke
The plane had taken off from Sapparo on Hokkaido Island, in northern Japan, and was due to land at Haneda Airport shortly before 18:00 local time (09:00 GMT)
Meanwhile all flights from Haneda Airport have been suspended
The Coastguard plane was said to be on its way to deliver earthquake aid to the earthquake-hit Noto peninsula when the collision occurred.
