The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the two off-cycle Governorship elections in Edo State scheduled for September 21, 2024 and Ondo State holding on November 16, 2024.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu made this known during the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting in Abuja .
He stated that the release was in conformity with the requirements of the Electoral Act 2022.
The INEC boss explained that party primaries for Edo State would commence next week and end three weeks later while that for Ondo State, would be held between 6th and 27th April 2024.
On the forthcoming bye elections on February 3, Yakubu urged the security agencies to ensure the security of lives and property of all the stakeholders that would take part in the forthcoming bye elections .
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu was represented at the meeting by Alhaji Hassan Abdulahi.
He assured that operatives would ensure the security of lives and properties of the electorate on election day.
