As Koiki Emerges As PRO

The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter has elected Mr. Gafar Odubote as Chairman and 11 others who would steer the leadership of the association for another four years .

The election, which was held in Lagos, was part of the Biennial General Meeting (BGM) of the association, which witnessed massive turnout of members from all walks of life.

The election, which was conducted by a three- man Electoral Committee headed by Mr. Tolu Ojemuyiwa, as Chairman with Alhaji Goke Ishola and Hon. Cyrus Johnson as members.

In his speech, Ojemuyiwa said that the electoral committee adhered strictly to the constitution guidelines in conducting the election, stressing that all the candidates were alumni of MAPOLY.

Odubote, like other candidates were unanimously elected as Chairman while others were also elected to the various positions available for contest.

In his acceptance speech, Odubote commended the alumni for the trust reposed in him and promised to deliver on his electioneering campaign promises.

The Chairman promised to strengthen alumni engagement by expanding its outreach and creating platforms for greater participation of members across all sectors.

He also pledged to build a sustainable funding system, which would encourage structured financial contributions and partnerships for impactful alumni projects.

“As your elected officers, we will also establish mentorship programmes, networking sessions, and business support initiatives for members of this great alumni association.

“We will also take infrastructural development, scholarships, and student mentorship at the alma mater as one of our major projects and a way of giving back to the society.

“Also, with the support of everyone, our tenure would also ensure the alumni association becomes more recognised, visible and influential within and beyond the MAPOLY community. I enjoin everyone to support us in every means possible for us to achieve our goals,” he pleaded.

Earlier, the immediate past Chairman of the association, Mr. Olusegun Rufus,gave a detailed report of his stewardship in the last four years.

Rufus explained that despite the absence of a functioning treasurer and access to the chapter’s bank account, the chapter survived through alumni dues and fundraising by members.

He also stated that the chapter in 2021, held its year-end party where it hosted all the alumni bodies in Lagos.

He further charged the new executives to continue from where his executives stopped and promised to always provide necessary advice and assistance whenever he is called upon to do so by the executives.

Other executive members elected at the election were : Ms. Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion, Vice Chairperson; Mr. Steven Eyanimo, Secretary; Mr. Ayodokun Waheed, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Adekunle Okunowo, Treasurer; Mr. Ibubukn Awoseye, Financial Secretary and Mr. Tobilola Adeboye as Assistant Financial Secretary.

Others were Olusegun Koiki, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ms. Omowunmi Akisanmi, Welfare Director; Ms. Olushola Adewunmi, Chief Whip, while Pst. Samuel Kehinde and Mr. Olusegun Rufus were elected as Ex-Officio.

The highlight of the event was the honouring of the immediate past executives with special awards for their selfless service to the association in the last few years.

The event was attended by Hon. Lanre Oyegbola, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Area; Dr. Olalekan Otun, past National President and Pioneer Chairman of Lagos Chapter and past chairmen of the Chapter, among others.
