…Says Initiative Reflects Association’s Commitment To Members Welfare, Professional Stability,
The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), in partnership with First Standard Insurance Brokers, has taken a Loss of Licence Insurance Cover for all Nigerian pilots and aircraft engineers.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the NAAPE President, Capt. Bunmi Gindeh and made available to Aviation Correspondents in. Lagos
Gindeh in the statement said that the move reflects the association’s commitment to member welfare and professional stability, bringing Nigeria in line with global aviation standards.
According to him, this scheme provides financial compensation to members who lose their professional licence due to medical incapacity or other qualifying conditions, aiming at safeguarding their professional security and manage career interruptions without severe financial distress.
He emphasised that this protects members, allowing the workforce to focus on safety standards knowing their careers are financially protected.
“By introducing this important coverage in Nigeria, we are not only protecting individual professionals and their families but also strengthening the aviation sector by ensuring our highly trained workforce can focus on maintaining the highest safety standards, knowing their careers are financially protected against unforeseen medical challenges,”Gindeh said.
The Deputy President of NAAPE, Engr. Mudi Muhammad highlighted the scheme’s necessity, noting that colleagues have faced hardship after unexpected medical licensing loss.
According to him, It is “safety net that every aviation professional deserves.”
The statement said that details on enrolment and premium structures will be announced soon, alongside sensitisation workshops to guide members through the process.
NAAPE reaffirmed its resolve to safeguard the economic and professional well-being of its members while supporting the continued growth and safety of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
