RwandAir said that its newly launched Kigali–Zanzibar–Mombasa service is already recording strong early uptake, just a week after the inaugural flights linked the three destinations for the first time.
According to a statement by the airline’s Manager, Communications, Fiona Mbabazi explained that the route, which marked RwandAir’s return to Mombasa and introduced Zanzibar as its new island destination, is operated four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Recall that the inaugural flight operations were celebrated with traditional water salutes, ribbon-cutting ceremonies,and participation from aviation authorities, tourism boards, and government officials in both Zanzibar
and Mombasa.
Speaking after the first week of operations, the Chief Commercial Officer,Fouad Caunhye said, “We are encouraged by the early response from travellers on all three points of the route. This service is already demonstrating its potential to support tourism, regional integration, and
seamless mobility across East Africa.”
The new route strengthens connectivity between coastal leisure hubs and Kigali’s central position as
a regional transit point.
Travellers are now able to combine business and leisure itineraries with hreater ease, while tourism partners have welcomed the added lift capacity into both Zanzibar and Mombasa.
“The first week reinforces the demand we anticipated for a convenient link between these destinations. We are committed to building on this momentum and offering our customers even more value as they plan their travel across the region,”the CCO added.
