The bird strikes incidents affecting United Nigeria(UNA) not only rain, but pour, as another Airbus A320 aircraft was hit yesterday while landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport((NAA), Abuja.
The bird strike is coming in less than 24 hours after the airline’s CRJ 900 was also hit in Abuja on April 14,2026.
According to a statement from the Public Relations Office of UNA, the incident occurred on landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.
The flight which originated from Port Harcourt Airport (PHA), with Flight UN0515 was scheduled for 15:45 hours on Wednesday, 15 April 2026,.
The incident, the statement said affected the nose section of the aircraft.
This incident, UNA said marks the sixth bird strike involving its aircraft this year,2026—an occurrence, the airline said it find deeply concerning and unacceptable due to its implications for aviation safety and operational stability, adding that the aircraft, in line with its strict and uncompromising safety standards, been immediately withdrawn from operations to undergo thorough technical inspections and any required maintenance before returning to service.
This latest incident, the airline informed brings the total number of grounded aircraft to two in less than 24 hours.
“As a result, some flights across our network may experience disruptions or may not operate as scheduled. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your understanding, as safety remains our top priority. Our team is working diligently to minimize disruptions and provide support to all affected travelers,” UNA said.
” We remain fully committed to ensuring the safety, comfort, and reliability our passengers expect from us,” it added.
