The Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr Muda Yusuf, says Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target is ambitious but achievable.
Yusuf, who is Chairman of the 2026 FiBOP Conference, stated this at the Finance and Business Online Publishers (FiBOP) conference themed, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision,” held at the weekend in Lagos.
He said with collaborative efforts, the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s $1 trillion economy vision can be achieved.
According to him, macroeconomic stability alone is not sufficient for economic growth, adding that the vision is achievable if every sector plays its part.
He noted that there are already signs that the vision is possible with sustained collaboration and commitment from Nigerians.
The Chairman of the occasion argued that the $1 trillion target is not just about increasing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in dollar terms, but about impacting the lives of every Nigerian.
He said the impact of the vision cannot be over-emphasised, noting that it will create jobs, bring about a robust economy, attract more investments and help Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to grow.
On the conference theme, Yusuf said it was strategically chosen as it cuts across insurance, banking, agriculture, technology and economic growth.
He commended FiBOP for its role in ensuring that stakeholders shape the direction of economic policy.
This, he said, underscores the significance of the sectors highlighted at the conference and the need for coherent, investment-friendly policies that enable them to realise their full potential.
He added that the value of the conference will ultimately lie in the quality of ideas generated and their potential contribution to better policies, stronger institutions and improved economic outcomes.
