The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of DataPro Limited, Mr. Abimbola Adeseyoju, says that Nigeria’s economic transformation from its present state to $1 trillion economy does not only requires ambitious targets but that it also requires the right policies.

Adeseyoju said this while presenting a speech at the Finance and Business Online Publishers(FiBOP) 2026 conference with the theme, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalyst for Nigeria’s $1 trillion Vision” held in Lagos at the weekend.

He listed other requirements for Nigeria’s economic transformation to include: credible institutions, productive investment and sustained confidence in the economy.

The Managing Director was represented by Victoria Balogun, a Senior Rating Analyst at DaItaPro Limited.

The Managing Director pointed out that the theme of this year’s conference, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, insurance, fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalyst for Nigeria’s $1 trillion Vision,’ is both timely and significant.

Adeseyoju stated that Data Pro Limited considered that FiBOP’s theme closely aligned with the focus of its recently concluded 2026 International Rating Webinar, with the theme, “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment Grade Status”, held recently.

Adeseyoju noted that both the Data Pro webinar and FiBOP themes recognised that Nigeria’s economic transformation requires more than just ambitious targets.

According to him, “It requires the right policies. It requires credible institutions, productive investment and sustained confidence in our economy. Credit ratings are particularly relevant to this conversation. They provide independent assessment of creditworthiness and help investors understand the risks associated with lending to governments and businesses.”

The sectors highlighted in FiBOP theme, the DaItaPro Limited CEO, said are essential to building a diversified and resilient economy: efficient taxation and strengthening public revenue mobilisation, industrial development, expand productive capacity and create jobs.

Insurance, he said can improve risk management, which according to it is very important for businesses.

“Fintech can deepen financial inclusion, while trade and investment can broaden market access and stimulate the economy,” Adeseyoju said.

Adeseyoju commended FiBOP for its contribution towards building a strong and bouyant economy and also congratulated the awardees whose contributions to their respective fields were recognised by FiBOP
